Our Adult Volunteers are homemakers, college students, retirees, and business people who are 18 years of age or older. Due to the Covid Pandemic, all Volunteer Programs at Maine Medical Center are temporarily suspended. We hope to have all volunteer programs resume by summer , but at this time no final decision has been made to restart.
Adult Volunteers Adult volunteers must be age 18 or older and able to commit to a regularly scheduled shift. Volunteers commit to one year with a minimum expectation of 50 hours. Volunteers for Change provides fun and meaningful, flexible weekend and evening volunteer opportunities for active, civically engaged adults - young and established - who have a desire to serve. A 45 minute orientation, offered twice monthly gets you started.
The volunteer uniform is a red shirt, vest or jacket that is supplied to all volunteers upon the start of their service. The supplied uniform top is to be worn with navy, tan or grey pants (obtained by the volunteer), a shirt with short or long sleeves and closed toed shoes. YAVs accompany local agencies working to address root causes of poverty and reconciliation. Our adult volunteers are offered training, support, invitations to special volunteer appreciation events, discounts on concessions and Zoo membership, and the opportunity to develop new skills and make new friends!
